Finding Ways to Give Back through Communities in Schools

Joseph was approached by friend and CIS LA West President, Deborah Marcus to help out with their first annual funding raising/awareness event – “School Life.” Without hesitation, the offer to jump in and get involved with this fantastic organization was easy. Joseph also had the extreme honor of working with pals Eli Consilvo, The Art Reserve and Mark Leibowitz, Leibowitz Pictures for the event.

Communities in Schools (“CIS”) is the nation’s largest dropout prevention organization and the only dropout prevention organization in the nation proven to increase on-time graduation rates. The mission of Communities In Schools is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. CIS currently serves over 2.3 million young people across the nation. By bringing caring adults into the schools to address children’s unmet needs, CIS provides the link between educators and the community. The result: teachers are free to teach, and students – many in jeopardy of dropping out – have the opportunity to focus on learning.
